Civil Defense warns of persistent rain this weekend in the eastern strip of the state of SP

The Civil Defense of São Paulo State warns of significant and persistent rain expected this weekend along the eastern region of the state.

The Civil Defense of São Paulo has issued a warning regarding persistent rainfall expected between Saturday (21) and Sunday (22) due to ocean winds affecting the eastern part of the state. Areas identified as particularly at risk include the coast, the Ribeira Valley, and the Itapeva region. These areas are likely to experience sustained rainfall, with higher accumulations expected in the Ribeira Valley and moderate levels in Itapeva and along the entire São Paulo coastline.

Meteorological models indicate that rainfall amounts could be significant, with expectations of accumulations ranging from 100 mm to 200 mm along the coastal areas from Iguape to Itanhaém, and the potential for further precipitation in other coastal regions of São Paulo. Unlike the rest of the state, where isolated storms typical of summer are common, sustained rain is predicted in these eastern areas, attributed to the influx of oceanic humidity.

As the weather situation unfolds, residents in the warned areas are advised to stay updated with local forecasts and adhere to any safety recommendations from the Civil Defense. Given the potential for high rainfall amounts, this weather pattern could lead to flooding and other weather-related hazards, making vigilance essential for those living in affected regions.
