Alexander and Kasper are out of Dubai: - It took off 10 fighter jets just before us

Alexander Wabakken and his family have evacuated Dubai amid escalating attacks, receiving little information regarding their situation from travel company TUI and the Norwegian government.

Alexander Wabakken, his partner Stine Simonsen, and their son Kasper, along with other tourists, were evacuated from Dubai after experiencing significant safety concerns due to escalating attacks in the region. The family arrived in Dubai on February 27, but their planned vacation quickly turned into a crisis when they heard explosions just before a scheduled light show at the Burj Khalifa. Lacking timely information from TUI, their travel agency, and the Norwegian government, they faced numerous challenges in finding a safe way home.

As the situation intensified, TUI evacuated some passengers to Hanover, Germany, while efforts were made by the Norwegian government to extract other citizens. Alexander reported that their return journey included a stopover in Crete for refueling before heading to Hanover and eventually back to their home in Fredrikstad, Norway. Despite the ordeal, Alexander reassured that they felt safe on the flight home, highlighting the stark contrast between their anticipated relaxing holiday and the chaotic situation they encountered.

The family's experience underlines the risks holidaymakers now face in volatile regions, reminding travelers of the importance of access to reliable information from their travel providers during crises. As clashes continue in Dubai, many families are left grappling with the uncertainty of travel safety and their return home, which could potentially influence future tourism to the area.
