Aker has evacuated 44 Norwegians from Dubai
Aker Solutions has successfully evacuated 44 Norwegian employees and their family members from Dubai due to challenging logistical circumstances.
Aker Solutions has announced the successful evacuation of 44 Norwegian nationals, including employees and their families, from Dubai. The evacuation was prompted by deteriorating conditions in the region. These individuals, who work for Aker Solutions and other Norwegian companies operating in Dubai, arrived at Oslo Airport Gardermoen on early Friday morning. The firm has not disclosed the identities of the other companies it assisted during the evacuation process.
The evacuees were transported from Dubai to Oman by bus, where they boarded a chartered flight that flew them back to Norway via Egypt. The logistics of this operation were reportedly complex, with Aker Solutions representatives stating that they faced significant challenges due to a complete closure of airspace in the region. Ongoing developments were making it necessary to adapt plans in real-time, indicating how critical the situation had become for those needing evacuation.
The company's communications manager noted that many within Aker Solutions were dedicated to ensuring a successful evacuation, working nearly around the clock to address the emerging challenges. This incident highlights the vulnerability of expatriates in volatile regions and underscores the importance of efficient crisis management for companies operating internationally.
