Luciano de Sousa Carvalho, a 46-year-old security guard, tragically passed away after being hit by a car on the BR-343 in Teresina, Brazil. He was on his way to work when the incident occurred in front of the Mirante do Lago condominium. Following the impact, Carvalho’s motorcycle caught fire and suffered a total loss. His family confirmed the details of the accident, expressing their grief over the sudden loss.

The accident occurred on the morning of Saturday, October 7, 2023, in an area that was previously marred by another tragic incident just a few days prior. On October 3, Dr. Edilson Carvalho de Sousa Júnior, a 55-year-old physician, also lost his life in this same stretch of road. Such incidents highlight ongoing concerns regarding road safety and the dangers motorcyclists face, especially in urban areas where traffic can be unpredictable.

Luciano leaves behind a wife and two daughters, further emphasizing the personal impact of this tragedy. His body is currently being mourned at the Igreja Batista in the Renascença neighborhood, with the burial scheduled for the morning of October 8. Meanwhile, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) have reported that the driver who struck Luciano fled the scene and has yet to turn himself in, raising questions about accountability and the need for improved regulations to protect vulnerable road users like motorcyclists.
