Qatar Chamber: Providing Alternative Solutions for Goods Transit via Saudi Arabia
The Qatar Chamber has advised freight and transport companies to register for the international road transport system (TIR) to ensure continued trade fluidity amid current regional conditions.
The Qatar Chamber has recently called upon shipping and transportation companies to sign up for the International Road Transport system (TIR) as part of efforts aimed at maintaining the flow of trade and goods under the challenging regional context. This initiative comes as a strategic response to ensure that commercial operations continue smoothly despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the area.
In a statement relayed by the Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Chamber outlined its collaboration with the General Authority of Customs to provide alternative solutions and exceptional customs facilitation for the transit of goods through the land border with Saudi Arabia. Innovations such as expedited shipping routes and quicker processing of customs transactions through the Nadib electronic customs clearance system have been introduced to support this initiative and enhance logistical efficiency.
Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, the President of the Qatar Chamber, emphasized the necessity for all freight and transport companies operating in the country to register for the TIR system, which is crucial for sustaining commercial activities during these trying times. Furthermore, the Chamber is facilitating the issuance of TIR road transport cards and ensuring that transportation operations adhere to the established system, thus providing transport operators with access to the necessary electronic framework for efficient operations.
