At the recent congress of the KDH in Ružomberok, Ján Horecký and Peter Stachura were elected as new deputy leaders to join the existing leadership, which includes Viliam Karas, Igor Janckulík, and Marián Čaučík. During the elections, the delegates discussed the candidacy of Monika Kolejáková, who failed to garner sufficient support despite being nominated by the Trenčín regional council, receiving only 95 votes compared to the 205 and 159 votes that Horecký and Stachura, respectively, received.
Horecký expressed the view that the KDH must not only react to the "toxic steps" of the current government but must also propose a concrete program that can revive the Slovak economy in collaboration with compatible partners. Striving to regain a position in parliament and eventually the government, both Horecký and Stachura emphasized the importance of this goal, thanking the delegates for their support during the elections. The congress marks a pivotal moment for KDH as it seeks to strengthen its leadership and strategic direction heading into future political contests.
Additionally, the discussion among delegates also touched on the appointment of new members within the party, highlighting the internal dynamics and the strategic decisions being made as KDH navigates its future path in Slovak politics. This congress is seen as crucial for shaping the vision and policies of KDH as they prepare to enhance their influence in the parliamentary landscape of Slovakia.
