The Storm Surrounding the Golden Train. The Finder Did Not Hide His Rage

The legend of the Golden Train, believed to be hidden in Lower Silesia and filled with treasures from World War II, has resurfaced as treasure hunters prepare new searches and face bureaucratic hurdles.

The story of the Golden Train has captivated treasure hunters for years, with its roots tracing back to World War II when the authorities of the Third Reich supposedly ordered residents of Lower Silesia to surrender their most valuable possessions for safekeeping. These treasures were believed to have been loaded into approximately 60 boxes and placed on a mysterious armored train that was supposed to head towards Wałbrzych but never arrived, leaving its ultimate fate a mystery that still intrigues many today.

Recently, in the summer of 2025, interest in the Golden Train legend has surged once more. A team led by Michał Motak, named 'Golden Train 2025', announced that the train cars may be hidden within a tunnel leading towards Książ Castle. This revelation has spurred treasure seekers to start the process of obtaining permits for research and ground works, seeking approvals from local authorities including the Wałbrzych city office and the Świdnica Forest District.

The renewed search for the fabled Golden Train not only rekindles historical curiosity but also raises questions about the legal and environmental implications of such excavation efforts. As bureaucratic approval processes unfold, tensions have emerged among treasure hunters, reflecting a complex mix of excitement and frustration as they aim to uncover what many believe could be a significant historical find in the region, which is already rich in history related to World War II.
