Motorcyclists cause concern among Alborada and Guayacanes residents due to morning robberies
Residents of Alborada and Guayacanes in northern Guayaquil are alarmed by a rise in motorcycle robberies occurring primarily in the early morning and late evening.
In the northern sectors of Guayaquil, specifically Alborada sixth stage and Guayacanes second stage, residents have reported multiple instances of robberies carried out by individuals on motorcycles, especially during the morning hours and late afternoons. Locals have taken to social media and community groups to share their experiences, underlining a repeated modus operandi where suspects on motorcycles patrol internal streets, targeting individuals heading to work or opening their shops, striking swiftly.
For instance, in the Alborada sixth stage, local merchants reported that thefts occur at dawn and throughout the day. One worker, Mariella, shared a disturbing incident from the previous week where a customer was robbed right in front of her laundry store. She recounted how the assault happened within a minute, where three assailants attacked the customer, physically assaulted him, and fled with his belongings using a makeshift crossing over a drainage ditch that had recently been cleared.
The situation has escalated from being a morning-centric issue to a more widespread problem, indicating a potentially organized effort among the motorcycle gangs. Community members are urged to remain vigilant, and there is pressure on local authorities to enhance security measures to address the growing anxiety among residents regarding their safety.
