LIVE: World Cup Stage in Biathlon. Men's Relay
Latvia's biathlon team competes in the men's relay World Cup stage with Andrejs Rastorgujevs leading the team.
The men's relay at the World Cup biathlon stage sees the Latvia team competing among 22 teams, with Andrejs Rastorgujevs, Renārs Birkentāls, Edgars Mise, and Aleksandrs Patrijuks representing the country. In the initial shooting stage, Rastorgujevs used two additional cartridges to close all targets but continued in 18th place, trailing the leader from Finland by 15.4 seconds. However, he made significant improvements during the skiing portion, quickly returning to the top ten rankings.
In the second shooting stage, Rastorgujevs shot quickly but inaccurately while standing. He had three leftover cartridges for three missed targets and managed to hit only two with his additional shots. Following a penalty loop, Rastorgujevs dropped to the last place at 22nd. Birkentāls took over the relay still in the 22nd position, struggling to gain ground in the competition.
The women's winning team will be determined on Sunday, and men will compete again in a 15-kilometer race with a mass start at the conclusion of this stage. After the Kontiolahti race, the World Cup circuit will feature two more stages in Otepää, Estonia, before the season concludes in March.
