Compesa halts Agreste Adutor and affects water supply in 11 cities; see the list
The Companhia Pernambucana de Saneamento is suspending water supply in several municipalities due to a temporary halt in the Agreste Adutor for essential maintenance work.
The Companhia Pernambucana de Saneamento (Compesa) has announced that it will carry out a planned interruption of the Agreste Adutor starting at 7 AM next Monday, lasting for 48 hours. This decision affects the water supply in six areas completely and partially in five other municipalities in the Agreste region of Pernambuco. The halt is necessary to execute services aimed at increasing the capacity of the water system and to finalize new sections of the ongoing construction that are currently in the testing phase.
The measures set to be taken during this period include the suspension of water supply to municipalities such as Alagoinha, the District of Serra dos Ventos in Belo Jardim, Barra do Farias, and Fazenda Nova, among others. Each of these locations will experience challenges in accessing water, impacting residents and businesses alike. The maintenance work is crucial for ensuring long-term improvements in the water service, although it creates immediate inconveniences for the affected communities.
Water supply is expected to resume gradually from 7 AM on Wednesday, with the pressure in the distribution network being stabilized over time. The scheduling of these maintenance works reflects Compesa's ongoing efforts to enhance water supply infrastructure in the region, particularly important as the Agreste area grapples with seasonal changes and water demand fluctuations. Residents are urged to prepare for the disruption and to monitor updates from Compesa as the timeline unfolds.
