Russia has attacked Ukraine at night with 480 drones and 29 missiles; 11 dead in Kharkiv

Russia conducted a large-scale attack on Ukraine, targeting energy facilities and resulting in civilian casualties, including 11 deaths in Kharkiv.

In a significant escalation of hostilities, Russia launched an assault on Ukraine overnight, deploying 480 drones and 29 ballistic missiles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the primary focus of the attacks was on energy infrastructure, which has been a critical aspect of the ongoing conflict. Unfortunately, the strikes also caused significant civilian casualties, particularly in Kharkiv, where a residential building was severely damaged and resulted in 11 deaths, including two children.

Rescue efforts are currently underway in Kharkiv, with emergency workers clearing debris from the destroyed residential building. The assault was not only aimed at infrastructure but also had devastating effects on the civilian population, as 15 others were reported injured in the attack, which includes three more children. Zelenskyy emphasized the need for international partners to respond to these aggressive strikes and reiterated that Russia has not ceased its attempts to destroy Ukrainian civilian and critical infrastructure.

In addition to the tragedy in Kharkiv, a separate attack in Kramatorsk resulted in one death and seven injuries, highlighting the broad scope of the Russian military campaign against Ukraine. These ongoing attacks underscore the urgency for continued international support and intervention to assist Ukraine in defending itself and recovering from the extensive damage inflicted on its cities and communities.
