Simona secured victory in the World Cup mass start event, narrowly defeating Elvīra Ēberga, who encountered penalties during the race.
Simona emerged victorious in the World Cup mass start biathlon event, finishing just 5.6 seconds ahead of Elvīra Ēberga, who had to ski two penalty loops after missing shots. The race saw Anna Magnusone take third place, trailing by 8.9 seconds. Notably, the event included a mishap involving the overall World Cup leader, French biathlete Lū Žanmono, who fell after colliding with German Vanessa Foigt but fortunately did not sustain injuries and quickly recovered.
The competition featured a series of shooting rounds where the athletes had to perform under pressure. After the first shooting round, Elvīra Ēberga from Sweden returned to the track with a significant 11.9 second lead over Italian biathlete Liza Vitoci. In the second round, Ēberga maintained her lead despite a careful shooting pace, with French competitor Julie Simona following closely 13.6 seconds behind as they moved into the final stages of the race.
During the third shooting round, a standing shoot saw Elvīra Ēberga falter, making an error on her third shot. After completing a penalty loop, she returned to the track in second position, now 10.1 seconds behind the leader. This race highlighted the intense competition and caliber of the athletes, as well as the unpredictability that can occur in biathlon events, where precision and speed are both crucial for victory.
