Legislative Assembly approves salary increase for the governor and vice-governor of Ceará
The Legislative Assembly of Ceará approved a salary increase for Governor Elmano de Freitas and Vice-Governor Jade Romero, aligning their pay with that of state employees.
The Ceará Legislative Assembly has voted in favor of a salary increase for both the governor, Elmano de Freitas, and the vice-governor, Jade Romero. This decision was made based on a legislative proposal put forth by the Assembly's leadership. Initially, the governor's salary will see a 4.26% increase, with expectations for it to rise to 5% come May. These adjustments reflect similar increases applied to state employees' wages.
As a result of this approval, Governor Elmano de Freitas will see his salary increase from R$ 21,700 to R$ 22,800 starting in May, while Vice-Governor Jade Romero's salary will rise from R$ 16,300 to R$ 17,158. The approved increases are part of a broader measure that affects salaries of other public servants in the state, ensuring that the enhancements at the level of political leadership are in line with those of state employees.
Additionally, the assembly has also sanctioned salary adjustments for officials within the Legislative Assembly, the Court of Justice, and the State Court of Accounts. This comprehensive approach underscores the ongoing discussions about remuneration in public service, as these changes may have implications for budget allocations and public perceptions regarding the compensation of public officials in the state of Ceará.
