"Cattle on the Road" Many Calls to 110 in Saga Prefecture, Attempted Capture with a Catch Pole...

Several calls were made to the police about cows wandering on the road in Saga, leading to their capture without injuries reported.

On the evening of the 7th, around 5:30 PM, police in Saga Prefecture received multiple emergency calls reporting that cows were on a county road in Tosu City. According to the local police, 5 to 6 cows had escaped from a nearby barn but were subsequently recaptured and returned without any reported injuries. Officers from the Tosu Police Station quickly arrived at the scene in response to the calls, where they found the cows calmly walking and standing on the road.

The police attempted to capture the cows using a catch pole called 'sasumata', but due to the unexpected size of the animals, they were unsuccessful. Eventually, staff from the barn arrived at the scene and managed to secure the cows with ropes, allowing them to be safely returned to their shelter. Witnesses, including a man in his twenties from Kurume City who saw the incident while driving, expressed shock and uncertainty about how to respond, noting that the cows appeared to be calm.

While the presence of the cows caused some traffic congestion in the area, the police confirmed that there were no accidents involving vehicles and the cows, ensuring the safety of both the animals and the public. This unusual incident highlights the potential dangers of livestock escaping and the swift response of local authorities to address such situations.
