Recently, a Cavalier King Charles spaniel, Faby, was admitted to an emergency animal clinic in Tallinn in horrific condition. The dog was found to have numerous broken ribs and life-threatening internal injuries, raising suspicions among veterinarians and animal welfare activists that Faby had been subjected to prolonged abuse. The Estonian Animal Welfare Society described the case as one of the most horrifying they have encountered recently.

Faby was brought to the clinic on March 1st by its owner, who sought help from animal rescue after noticing the dog's unacceptable state. Upon examination, it was determined that the injuries were not accidental or isolated incidents. Medical professionals identified ten fresh rib fractures along with five older fractures at various healing stages, extensive hematoma in the abdomen, and other serious internal injuries such as pneumothorax and contusions on the kidney and liver, indicating severe violence.

The predicament of Faby has prompted widespread condemnation from the animal care community, highlighting a significant issue of animal cruelty in Estonia. Vets stated that the dog was in extreme pain and unable to move or eat, emphasizing the urgent need for legal reforms to protect animals from such heinous acts. The case underscores the ongoing challenges faced by animal rights advocates in ensuring the safety and well-being of pets in the region.
