On the evening of Friday, the 6th, a man was apprehended after attempting to rob a couple exercising on Litorânea Avenue in São Luís. According to the Maranhão State Military Police, a retired police officer who was passing by witnessed the robbery in progress, intervened, and detained the armed suspect, who sustained a gunshot wound during the encounter. The accomplice managed to flee the scene. The police confiscated a .38 caliber revolver with four rounds and two gold necklaces from the arrested individual. Reports indicated that the suspects had previously stopped pedestrians to announce robberies.

Earlier on the same day, the suspects had reportedly stolen jewelry from a tourist visiting the area, which is one of the city's main tourist attractions. The robbery attempt took place in a busy area on Litorânea, even during inclement weather. Despite being injured during the confrontation, the detained suspect was provided medical attention and subsequently taken into custody for the crime.
