Marek Hoffmann, a resident of Poland, became a sensation after sharing his unconventional method of heating his home during the cold season. Tired of high heating bills from wood, he decided to experiment by using donuts as a fuel source. His idea stemmed from curiosity, and despite the light-hearted nature of the endeavor, it showcased a creative approach to addressing everyday problems like rising energy costs.

By calculating the caloric content of donuts, Hoffmann determined that one donut contains 440 calories, making it comparable to firewood in terms of energy content. He estimated that 133 donuts would provide enough energy equivalent to 10 kg of wood, which led to his test of heating his home. The outcome was a successful endeavor where he heated his house for just £2.49 (around €2.87) worth of donuts, significantly lower than traditional fuel expenses.
