Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has launched a team of 5,000 canvassers to support his re-election and that of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the June 20 elections.
Biodun Oyebanji, the Governor of Ekiti State and candidate for re-election from the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially announced the establishment of a group of 5,000 canvassers to support his campaign as well as that of President Bola Tinubu. This initiative was spearheaded by Mary Oso-Omotosho, the Director-General of the Bureau of Community Communications. The canvassers are tasked with securing voter support through direct engagement, underscoring a grassroots approach to the upcoming elections.
During the inauguration, Governor Oyebanji expressed his gratitude to the volunteers and emphasized the importance of peaceful campaigning both among his supporters and the opposition. He urged all members involved to focus on fostering a conducive environment for the electoral process, indicating a commitment to both fairness and respect during the election period. He specifically called upon the electorate to back the APC not just for his re-election in the 2026 governorship election but also for the presidential election in 2027, framing the elections as a way to show gratitude to President Tinubu for his contributions to the state.
The upcoming elections are crucial not only for Oyebanji’s political future but also for the APC’s hold on power in Ekiti State. With the inauguration of these canvassers, Oyebanji aims to bolster the party’s grassroots mobilization and ensure their voter base is engaged effectively as they approach the June 20 election date. This strategic move reflects the party's initiative to solidify its presence and influence ahead of the upcoming electoral challenges they face in the region.
