A dana will bring widespread rains across the Peninsula and Balearic Islands this Saturday

A weather phenomenon known as 'dana' is expected to cause widespread rain and instability across Spain, particularly affecting regions such as Cantabria, Tarragona, Castellón, and the Balearic Islands.

This Saturday, a weather event referred to as 'dana' is forecasted to bring substantial rainfall and instability across the entire Spanish Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), regions that will be most affected include Cantabria, Tarragona, Castellón, and the Balearic Islands. In addition to rain, significant snow is anticipated in various mountain ranges, leading to warnings for potentially hazardous conditions in these areas.

Aemet has also issued alerts for snowfall and morning fog banks in major mountainous regions, with snow levels expected to fluctuate between 1,300 and 1,600 meters, except in the southeast region where it could drop to between 1,100 and 1,300 meters early in the day. Consequently, this situation indicates a complex weather pattern that could affect transportation and outdoor activities in the mountainous terrains, as visibility may be compromised due to fog and snowfall.

Temperatures are expected to rise in the southwest, Cantabrian area, Alto Ebro, and northeastern regions, while experiencing a decline in the central and eastern third of the peninsula. Minimum temperatures will reduce in the northeastern areas but remain stable elsewhere. Overall, weak winds will dominate in the Peninsula and Balearic Islands, with moderate gusts in the northeastern third, underlining the changes in weather patterns that are typical with such phenomena.
