The first special flights bringing Estonian tourists back from Oman and Dubai have arrived in Tallinn over the weekend.
On Saturday morning, the first flight arrivals at Tallinn Airport marked the return of Estonian tourists returning home from Oman and Dubai. Three special flights left on Friday evening, with the first operated by Heston Airlines carrying 180 passengers aboard an Airbus 320, followed by a second Air Baltic flight accommodating 140 individuals. These arrangements were facilitated through collaborations between the Foreign Ministry and three airline companies, indicating a significant return effort for citizens stranded abroad amidst travel constraints.
The availability of flights to and from Estonia has been expanded, as the Foreign Ministry confirmed that booking options for two additional special flights were opened on Friday evening. Among these, a Sunday flight with Heston from Dubai has already reached full capacity. Plans are underway for two more flights via FlyDubai in the coming days, demonstrating concerted efforts by the Estonian authorities to facilitate the safe return of its citizens.
Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna has emphasized a personal commitment to assist Estonian citizens, along with their family members holding Estonian residence permits, who are currently in countries like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. This highlights the country's priority to ensure the safety and well-being of its nationals during these challenging times as they navigate through travel restrictions and logistical challenges abroad.
