CastraFaz Program reaches the Veneza neighborhood and serves over 400 animals
The CastraFaz program successfully castrated over 400 animals in the Veneza neighborhood of Brazil, aiming to control the population of community and rescued pets.
The CastraFaz program held its first 2026 edition outside the Parque Verde at the Nossa Senhora Aparecida Church in the Veneza neighborhood on February 25-26. This initiative focused on the spaying and neutering of community and rescued animals, resulting in the successful castration of 300 dogs and 140 cats. The program provided necessary post-operative medications, ensuring that animals received proper care after the procedures.
Veneza was selected for this edition due to its high incidence of community animals, as identified by a study from the local Environmental Department. This program not only serves strays but also offers spots for pets with owners, making it accessible to a wider range of animals in need. The initiative's focus is to curb the population of community animals, thus reducing the spread of diseases among them.
As a free program, CastraFaz plays a significant role in enabling pet owners to spay or neuter their pets without financial burden. By providing medications and support, the program ensures better health outcomes for animals, contributing to overall public health and safety in the community. This initiative exemplifies the commitment to animal welfare and responsible pet ownership in Brazil.
