Itapetininga opens 5,000 spots for free castration and microchipping of dogs and cats
Itapetininga (SP) has opened registrations for a campaign offering free castration and microchipping for dogs and cats, providing 5,000 spots for the procedures.
The city of Itapetininga in São Paulo state has announced the openings for a major animal welfare initiative, providing 5,000 free spots for the castration and microchipping of dogs and cats. This program is designed to begin surgeries from March 3 at the Municipal Gym 'Ayrton Senna da Silva', helping to address the issue of animal overpopulation in the area.
In addition to the initial phase starting in early March, additional services will be available beginning March 30, at a secondary location next to the Escola Sebastião Vilaça. The initiative seeks not only to control the pet population but also to enhance the safety and responsibility of pet ownership through microchipping, which helps ensure that pets can be returned to their owners if lost.
Residents can obtain more detailed information on scheduling and assistance with registration by visiting the Municipal Pet Clinic in downtown Itapetininga or contacting them via phone. This program highlights the city's commitment to animal welfare and public health, aiming to reduce stray animal populations and ensure better care for pets in the community.
