São Paulo International Airport in Guarulhos notified of possible security threat; buses are inspected and nothing is found

São Paulo International Airport in Guarulhos received a notification about a possible security threat, leading to comprehensive inspections of buses which resulted in no findings.

The São Paulo International Airport, located in Guarulhos, was alerted to a potential security threat on Friday, prompting immediate action from the authorities. The airport operator, GRU Airport, reported that the Federal Police were called in and the necessary protocols were initiated despite the fact that airport operations remained unaffected throughout the incident.

The threat was associated with three buses from the EMTU line 257, which connects the Tatuapé Terminal in São Paulo's East Zone to Guarulhos Airport. Allegations suggested that an improvised explosive device could have been placed on one of these buses, necessitating a thorough security response. Officers from the Military Police conducted a sweep of one bus at the Tatuapé Terminal with support from the Civil Police's Special Response Group.

As part of the coordinated security measures, federal agents boarded the other two buses of the same line at the airport. The inspections were comprehensive, but ultimately no explosive devices or other security issues were discovered. This incident underscores the ongoing vigilance in public transport security, especially in vital hubs like international airports.
