Swedish healthcare personnel to the Middle East

Sweden is sending healthcare personnel to the Middle East to assist stranded Swedish citizens in the region, according to the government.

In response to the situation involving many stranded Swedish citizens in the Middle East, the Swedish government has announced plans to dispatch healthcare personnel to the region. This deployment aims to reinforce the Swedish crisis team based in the United Arab Emirates, a decision taken after a formal request from the government to the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency.

Healthcare personnel will be tasked with supporting embassies and are required to be present on-site to assess and address medical needs. Health Minister Elisabet Lann emphasized the importance of having medical staff available to ensure that any emergencies regarding the health of the stranded individuals are effectively managed. The volunteers will be drawn from various regions in Sweden, including Stockholm, Västra Götaland, Skåne, Östergötland, Uppsala, and Västerbotten.

This move reflects Sweden's commitment to protecting its citizens abroad and exemplifies the government's proactive approach in times of crisis. By equipping the crisis team in the UAE with necessary healthcare support, Sweden seeks to enhance the safety of its citizens and ensure that urgent medical care is accessible to those affected by the situation in the region, potentially mitigating health risks and providing peace of mind to those stranded and their families back home.
