Swedish Police on Their Way to the Middle East
Swedish police have been dispatched to the Middle East to assist Swedish nationals in the region at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Swedish police have announced the dispatch of officers to the Middle East, specifically to Abu Dhabi, at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This operation aims to support approximately 200 Swedish citizens currently present in the region, notably including families with small children, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities who may need assistance in returning to Sweden.
The police's responsibilities during this deployment include developing an evacuation plan tailored to those with special needs, ensuring a quick and organized exit for those eligible to travel back to Sweden. In addition, they are prepared to deploy more resources or special expertise if deemed necessary by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, demonstrating the Swedish government’s commitment to the safety and well-being of its citizens abroad.
Furthermore, the Swedish police will oversee the examination of travel documents and identification, and provide assistance with policing and security-related issues. This move reflects Sweden's proactive approach in safeguarding its nationals in uncertain international contexts, particularly amidst escalating tensions or crises in the area.
