See how to pay IPVA 2026 with a credit card in MG
Vehicle owners in Minas Gerais can now pay the IPVA for 2026 using a credit card, allowing for up to 12 installments.
Owners of vehicles in Minas Gerais, Brazil, have been granted a new option to pay the Imposto sobre a Propriedade de VeΓculos Automotores (IPVA) for 2026 using a credit card. This new payment method, effective as of Thursday, is available on the website of the Secretaria de Estado de Fazenda de Minas Gerais (SEF/MG) and enables taxpayers to break down their payments into installments of up to 12 months. This move is part of the government's effort to enhance payment flexibility and ease for vehicle owners when settling their tax obligations.
Upon generating a payment guide on the SEF/MG website, taxpayers will be directed to the platform of an accredited financial institution that will handle the credit card transaction. Typically, the transaction confirmation is received within a few minutes, but this can depend on the credit card operator's processing speed. It is important to note that the installment options under this new payment method are managed solely by the credit card issuer, which will provide information about any applicable interest and fees before the transaction is finalized.
Additionally, the Secretariat of Finance emphasizes that this new credit card payment option does not replace the traditional method of paying the IPVA in up to three installments, which remains available. This development reflects the government's ongoing efforts to modernize and streamline tax collection processes, making it easier for citizens to fulfill their tax obligations while promoting the use of financial technologies in public services.
