Banco do Brasil launches PIX in Argentina

Banco do Brasil has introduced a service that allows Brazilians to use the PIX payment system in Argentina, in collaboration with Banco Patagonia.

On Friday, Banco do Brasil announced the launch of a new service allowing Brazilian users to utilize the PIX payment system while in Argentina. This development expands the reach of PIX beyond Brazil, enabling any Brazilian user—regardless of their banking affiliation—to make payments in Argentina. This initiative is part of Banco do Brasil's strategy to enhance its international presence and to promote innovative digital payment solutions for the benefit of its customers.

The PIX service in Argentina has been introduced through a partnership with Banco Patagonia, an Argentinian bank controlled by Banco do Brasil. This collaboration allows Brazilians in Argentina to scan QR codes through their banking applications to complete purchases at participating merchants. This functionality aims to facilitate transactions for Brazilian tourists and residents in Argentina, making payments easier and more convenient.

Felipe Prince, the bank's vice president for internal controls and risk management, emphasized that the launch of PIX abroad reaffirms Banco do Brasil's commitment to innovation in payment methods that prioritize customer well-being. With this new service, the bank aims not only to cater to the financial needs of Brazilians abroad but also to strengthen its position in the international market.
