The medical unions CESM and Amyts reduce the optimism of Health: "There is no agreement"

Spanish medical unions have tempered expectations after a meeting with the Ministry of Health, stating that no formal agreement has been reached regarding medical profession reforms.

In a recent meeting between the Ministry of Health and medical unions, the Confederation of State Medical Unions (CESM) and Amyts expressed a cautious outlook, clarifying that despite earlier announcements, no formal agreements have been established. Both unions emphasize the need for clarity and transparency in the ongoing discussions, particularly in light of pressing reforms needed for the medical profession, including improvements to the Framework Statute.

During the meeting, the Secretary General of CESM, Víctor Pedrera, indicated that critical issues related to the medical profession were discussed, yet the negotiations did not culminate in any formal resolution. This situation has prompted the unions to call for a more robust dialogue, insisting that any progress in negotiations must be conducted within the framework of the strike committee, reflecting the gravity of the concerns affecting the medical community.

The unions are emphasizing that a collaborative effort is crucial to navigate the current challenges faced by healthcare professionals in Spain. As the situation evolves, the unions are asserting that while there is a willingness to negotiate, substantive agreements must be reached to address the ongoing issues that impact not only the profession but also the quality of healthcare services within the country.
