Health and the Forum of the Medical Profession reach an agreement to avoid the strike

The Spanish Ministry of Health has reached an agreement with the Forum of the Medical Profession to prevent a scheduled medical strike through enhanced dialogue and structured communication.

With just 11 days to go before a scheduled medical strike from March 16 to 20, the Spanish Ministry of Health has successfully negotiated an agreement with the Forum of the Medical Profession, a coalition that includes various medical associations and unions. This agreement aims to address ongoing conflicts within the healthcare system by fostering institutional dialogue and improving communication channels within the medical community.

The Forum of the Medical Profession comprises key entities such as the Spanish Medical Organization (OMC), the State Confederation of Medical Unions (CESM), and the Federation of Scientific Medical Associations of Spain (Facme), among others. The coalition highlights the importance of a collaborative approach to tackling the issues faced by healthcare professionals, emphasizing that improved dialogue is essential for resolving disputes and ensuring the effective functioning of the health services.

According to a statement from Health Minister Mónica García, the agreed-upon proposals include specific measures related to professional participation, classification, and recognition of working conditions. These measures will be incorporated into a legislative project known as the Statute Framework for statutory personnel of health services, showcasing the government's commitment to addressing the concerns of healthcare workers and preventing the upcoming strike from taking place.
