Formula 1 Begins a New Era - What You Need to Know Before the New and Unpredictable Season?
Formula 1 will feature a new team, Cadillac, this season, bringing the total to 11 teams and 22 drivers.
Formula 1 is entering an exciting new era with the addition of the American team Cadillac, increasing the number of teams from 10 to 11 and the number of drivers from 20 to 22. Cadillac has recruited experienced drivers Valtteri Bottas from Finland and Sergio Pérez from Mexico, who have both previously raced for top teams. This year, Cadillac will use Ferrari engines, with aspirations of developing its own engines by 2029.
The introduction of a new team will lead to changes in the qualification format. In the decisive third part of the qualifying rounds, the top 10 drivers will still compete for the best lap times, but the first two parts will see 6 drivers eliminated at a time, altering the dynamics of how drivers qualify for races. This change is expected to make qualifying sessions even more critical and competitive.
In addition to Cadillac, Audi has also entered Formula 1, acquiring a stake in the Sauber team, which previously raced under the name Kick Stake last season. Audi's involvement represents a significant move for the brand in a sport where technological prowess and engineering excellence are paramount, and it raises questions about how these new teams will influence the future landscape of Formula 1.
