Latvian team triumphs at financiers' padel tournament in Vilnius

The first BFI Padel Cup in Vilnius concluded with a victory for the Latvian team Eleving, attracting significant participation from the financial community.

The BFI Padel Cup, a new initiative within the traditional BFI Cup tennis tournaments organized for the financial community, took place this year in Vilnius and garnered considerable interest, attracting 112 players. The event marked the introduction of padel, a rapidly growing sport, into the financial sector's sporting events, which have been established for eighteen years. This inaugural tournament saw international participation, with four teams from Latvia adding to the competitive spirit of the event.

In the end, after several intense matches, the Latvian team Eleving emerged as champions, scoring 100 points, while SEB bank secured second place with 76 points, closely followed by representatives from Luminor bank with 75 points. The competition highlighted the camaraderie and sportsmanship within the financial community, emphasizing their active engagement in new forms of recreation. Team building and sporting events are seen as a vital component of fostering relationships within the sector.

Event organizer Urtė Lakavičiūtė expressed delight at the enthusiastic participation, noting the importance of such activities for the financial community’s engagement in innovative sports. The support from various partners, including employees from SAVY who formed their own team for the tournament, illustrates the collaborative spirit among financial institutions, encouraging a shift towards more inclusive and diverse sporting events.
