Beat everyone in Vietnam
Oda Aune Gissinger won the sprint in Vietnam during the third stage of the Biwase Tour of Vietnam.
Oda Aune Gissinger, an 18-year-old cyclist from Malvik, achieved a remarkable victory in the third stage of the Biwase Tour of Vietnam, covering a distance of 120 km. She demonstrated her strength by outperforming all competitors in the sprint, catching the attention of her coach Atle Kvålsvoll, who noted that such performances are noteworthy. Gissinger has been making waves since her senior debut earlier in Spain, where she secured a third-place finish.
As a member of the Norwegian continental team Team Hitec Products - Fluid Control, Gissinger is currently in contention for the overall title in the five-day race. The latest stage featured a flat route with a challenging five-kilometer uphill segment towards the finish, which shattered the pack and allowed her to secure her first stage win among 101 participants who started. Coach Kvålsvoll emphasized the significance of this achievement for Gissinger's racing career.
Despite a less-than-ideal lead-up to the event, including disruptions due to flight changes stemming from the conflict in the Middle East, Gissinger arrived in Hanoi only five hours before the first stage commenced. Nonetheless, her performance in Vietnam underscores her potential in competitive cycling and sets the stage for future successes as she continues to refine her skills on the circuit.
