In the fourth quarter of 2025, Greece's unemployment rate stood at 8.3%, marking a minor increase from 8.2% in the third quarter of the same year, while showing a decrease from 9.5% in the fourth quarter of 2024. According to the data released by the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT), there were 394,894 unemployed individuals, reflecting a 0.4% rise compared to the previous quarter but a 12.1% decrease from the same quarter the prior year.
The employed population totaled 4,352,366, which signifies a 1.1% decline in comparison to the prior quarter, albeit a 1.7% increase relative to the same quarter last year. Additionally, the number of individuals not participating in the labor force, defined as those neither working nor seeking work, reached 4,250,648. Particularly, those under 75 years old and outside the labor force numbered 3,002,142, experiencing a 1.4% rise from the previous quarter while decreasing by 1.6% year-on-year.
