Familiar car dealer from TV faces bankruptcy – tax authority claims millions
Luxury Collection Automobiles Oy is facing bankruptcy proceedings initiated by the Finnish tax authority due to unpaid taxes totaling over 2.9 million euros.
Luxury Collection Automobiles Oy, a well-known car dealership in Finland, is facing bankruptcy proceedings as initiated by the Finnish Tax Administration. The company reportedly owes more than 2.9 million euros in taxes, chiefly stemming from unpaid vehicle and value-added taxes, alongside some smaller employer withholding tax debts. This significant financial strain became evident through a bankruptcy filing submitted to the West Uusimaa District Court, revealing that the tax authority's claims had worsened over time, accumulating from a previous demand of around 860,000 euros in December 2025.
Despite having operated profitably from 2020 to 2023, with a peak revenue of 42.6 million euros in 2023, Luxury Collection Automobiles is now in jeopardy of losing its business due to escalating tax liabilities. The company's chairperson and CEO, Miika Toivonen, received a payment notice for these debts, which indicates a serious financial mismanagement issue within the company. The shift from profitability to potential bankruptcy highlights the delicate balance businesses must maintain in managing tax obligations while pursuing growth and expansion in competitive markets.
The situation raises broader concerns regarding financial oversight and corporate responsibility in the automotive sector in Finland. As Luxury Collection Automobiles navigates these challenging waters, the potential impacts on its employees, suppliers, and the broader economic landscape of the automotive industry could be significant, especially if the company ultimately fails to resolve its debts and files for bankruptcy officially.
