A new feature in mObywatel that will make life easier for parents, especially fathers

Polish Deputy Minister for Digital Affairs announced a new feature in the mObywatel app that allows parents to report their child's birth, streamlining the formalities involved.

In a recent announcement, Polish Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs, Dariusz Standerski, revealed that parents can now register their child's birth directly through the mObywatel application. This feature aims to simplify the process for families during what is often a stressful time, ensuring that formalities do not detract from the closeness and peace that new parents seek to experience. By developing tools like mObywatel, the government seeks to assist families from the very beginning of their journey with a new child.

Parents are required to report the birth of their child within 21 days from the issuance of the birth certificate, which is provided by a medical professional who attended the birth. The responsibility for registering this information generally lies with the parents, who must submit it to the Civil Registry Office (USC) within three days. However, with the new mObywatel app feature, the USC will be notified of new births automatically, alleviating some of the burden that lies on parents during this significant time.

This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Polish government to modernize public services and reduce unnecessary bureaucracy. The recent amendments to laws governing population records and civil status records aim to improve efficiency in these processes. By utilizing digital tools, the government hopes to streamline formal procedures, allowing families to focus more on their newborns rather than on administrative tasks, thus enhancing the overall experience of welcoming a new life.
