Vorcaro will be accompanied by PCC leaders in maximum security prison in Brasília

Former banker Daniel Vorcaro will be transferred to a maximum security prison in Brasília where leaders of the criminal organization PCC are held.

Daniel Vorcaro, former owner of Master Bank, is set to be transferred to a maximum security prison in Brasília on Friday, October 6, following a court order from Minister André Mendonça of the Supreme Federal Court. This transfer, requested by the Federal Police, will place Vorcaro among many high-profile members of the Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC), a notorious criminal faction in Brazil. The São Paulo Public Prosecutor's Office has linked these individuals to decades-long leadership within the PCC.

The federal prison in Brasília is renowned for its strict security measures and has been operational since 2018. It forms part of Brazil's Federal Penitentiary System, under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security. The facility includes 208 individual cells, each measuring 6 square meters, designed to house some of the most dangerous criminals in the country. Vorcaro's transfer is significant not just for its immediate implications for his safety, but also for the broader implications concerning Brazil's prison system and its struggle with organized crime.

Vorcaro's presence among PCC leaders raises concerns about the influence and communication that may occur within the prison walls. Many of these inmates have been transferred from the São Paulo prison system to the federal system to curb their control over gang activities and to limit their capacity to coordinate crime from inside prison. The legal proceedings surrounding Vorcaro's transfer reflect ongoing efforts by Brazilian authorities to confront organized crime and highlight the complex landscape of criminal networks operating in the country.
