In Turku's Haritus neighborhood, a 42-year-old man is suspected of fatally assaulting his ex-wife, a 38-year-old woman, in their shared residence. The authorities were alerted to the incident on March 3, when they discovered the woman deceased in her apartment. Reports indicate that during the violent episode, a minor was present in the household and has also been reportedly assaulted by the suspect. The police revealed that a sharp weapon was used in the commission of the murder, alongside other forms of violence, although specific details have not been publicly disclosed due to ongoing investigative concerns, as noted by Chief Investigator Tuomas Järvenpää.
On March 6, the Varsinais-Suomi district court remanded the 42-year-old suspect for suspected homicide along with charges related to assault. This case highlights significant concerns regarding domestic violence and the potential impact on children exposed to such traumatic events, raising fears about the safety and welfare of minors in households affected by violence.
