GM officially confirms the arrival of Cadillac in the Brazilian market
Cadillac will officially enter the Brazilian market in 2026, marking Brazil as the first South American country to receive its electric vehicles.
General Motors has confirmed that Brazil will be the first country in South America to officially receive Cadillac’s electric cars, with the announcement made by Thomas Owsianski, the new CEO of General Motors for South America. This news comes alongside Cadillac's debut in Formula 1 with a team featuring drivers Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. While the Brazilian market will see Cadillac vehicles start selling in 2026, the exact launch date is yet to be specified.
The initiative to introduce Cadillac to Brazil began two years ago, but the final decision was reached only at the end of 2025. The vehicles will feature SUV body styles and will be imported from the United States, with the Cadillac Vistiq, launched last year, expected to be the most luxurious model offered. This SUV is notably large, measuring 5.22 meters in length and equipped with dual electric motors that provide a combined power output of over 600 horsepower. Although the pricing has not been disclosed, it is anticipated that the Vistiq will be priced above the Volvo EX90, which is currently positioned as the largest and most luxury electric SUV available in Brazil.
The introduction of Cadillac’s electric vehicles is significant, as it aligns with GM's strategy to expand its luxury vehicle offerings in emerging markets like Brazil. With the growing interest in electric vehicles worldwide and emerging markets increasingly adopting EV technology, Cadillac's arrival may generate a competitive landscape in the luxury electric SUV segment, potentially benefiting local consumers by providing more options and innovative technology in the automotive market.
