The 'Lampa' festival opens a hotline for residents' ideas and problems
The 'Lampa' festival in Latvia has launched a free hotline for residents to share important community issues, particularly aimed at seniors and those unable to attend the festival in person.
As the 'Lampa' conversation festival approaches, a free hotline, 24226288, has been introduced to allow residents to express important and often overlooked societal topics. The festival representative Beāte Kobiņeca announced that the hotline will be available throughout March, inviting anyone interested to call in and share their views. Special encouragement is given to seniors who may have difficulty participating in the festival due to mobility issues or lack of access to digital platforms.
This initiative marks the first time the festival organizers have implemented such a 'hotline' activity ahead of the event, intending to broaden participation and ensure diverse voices contribute to the discourse. The collected issues raised during the calls will be compiled and potentially incorporated into the program for this year's 'Dialogi' movement at the festival. This effort underscores the importance of including various perspectives, especially from seniors, in community discussions.
Egita Prāma, the director of the 'Lampa' festival, emphasizes that diversity of opinions is vital for meaningful dialogue. She believes that conversation is the first step in fostering greater understanding and encourages all community members to take part in this initiative, ensuring that even those who cannot be physically present can still influence the festival's agenda.
