A new stamp commemorates Lithuania's return to the Winter Paralympics

Lithuania celebrates its return to the Winter Paralympics after 32 years with the release of a commemorative stamp and the debut of a paralympic snowboarder in upcoming games.

In a historic move for Lithuanian sports, the country has announced its return to the Winter Paralympics after a 32-year hiatus. To commemorate this significant event, a new stamp has been released, featuring a nominal value of 2.00 euros and a total printing of 15,000 copies. A special cancellation event for the first day of issue will take place at Vilnius Post Office on Totorių Street, allowing collectors and enthusiasts to celebrate this moment together.

The President of the Lithuanian Paralympic Committee, Mindaugas Bilius, emphasized the importance of this year for Lithuania's paralympic movement, particularly the participation of snowboarder Rapolas Micevičius, who will debut in the snowboard cross event on March 7. This marks a significant achievement for Lithuanian athletes, showcasing their resilience and determination over the past three decades. Bilius expressed pride in the nation’s accomplishments and the joy brought by the country's returning to the Paralympic stage.

Furthermore, this will be the first time that Lithuania issues a stamps dedicated to the Winter Paralympic Games, representing a pivotal step in promoting paralympic winter sports within the country. The collaboration with Lietuvos Paštas, the national postal service, not only supports the event but also highlights the growing recognition and respect for athletes competing at this level.
