The junior men's world champion in figure skating will be determined today in Tondiraba Hall, with live broadcasts starting at 18:15.
Today, the final performances for the junior men's world championship in figure skating are taking place at Tondiraba Hall in Tallinn, Estonia. Broadcasts by ETV+ and ERR's sports portal will begin at 18:15, featuring commentary from Anu SÀÀrits and Liina-Grete Lilender. The men's free program will follow the short program, with the top 24 competitors, but unfortunately, there are no Estonian representatives among them.
In the short program results, Vladislav Churakov finished in 31st place and Ilya Nesterov in 40th, highlighting the dominance of Asian competitors in this category. Leading the competition is Japan's Rio Nakata with a score of 89.51 points, closely followed by South Korea's Seo Min-kyu at 86.33 points. The rest of the top five includes two more Japanese skaters, Daiya Ebihara and Taiga Nishino, with American skater Jacob Sanchez being the highest-ranked non-Asian competitor.
The performance of European skaters is also noteworthy, with Switzerland's Ean Weiler being the best-ranked European after the short program, sitting in eighth place with a score of 76.77. The event's results will have implications for the young athletes' future careers, as performances at world championships can often lead to opportunities in professional skating.
