Ekiti taps alumni for school infrastructure upgrades
The Ekiti State Government in Nigeria has urged alumni associations to enhance school infrastructure for improved student learning environments.
The Ekiti State Government has reached out to alumni associations within the state to support efforts to improve educational infrastructure in their former schools. This initiative aims to foster a better learning environment for students, addressing the critical need for upgraded facilities. Commissioner for Education Kofoworola Aderiye emphasized the importance of alumni contributions during the inauguration of newly refurbished classroom facilities at Igbemo Community Comprehensive High School.
During the event, which occurred in Igbemo Ekiti within the Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, Aderiye, represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Bayode Ogunmola, praised the alumni association for its significant contributions, which included renovations to classroom blocks and upgrades to scientific facilities, alongside the donation of a mini-bus for school transportation. These efforts align with the government's agenda to enhance educational standards and accessibility, particularly in rural areas.
Aderiye noted that the collaborative approach involving the government and alumni underscores a shared responsibility to cultivate a conducive educational atmosphere. By leveraging the resources and networks of alumni, Ekiti aims to not only upgrade physical infrastructures but also to inspire a culture of giving back to the community among former students, thereby fostering a sustainable model for school improvement.
