Youth were held captive in Cambodia-Myanmar on the pretext of jobs, two agents arrested

Gujarat police have arrested two agents involved in an international job scam that lured unemployed young Indians into cyber slavery in countries like Cambodia and Myanmar.

Gujarat police's Cyber Centre of Excellence has uncovered a major network linked to international cyber fraud and human trafficking. The arrested agents, Kaushik Pethani and Dhruv Dobariya from Surat, were accused of enticing unemployed Indian youths with promises of lucrative jobs abroad before sending them to countries like Cambodia and Myanmar. Once there, these individuals were coerced into cyber crimes against their will.

The police investigation revealed that this scam was part of a larger international operation involving foreign gangs. The agents were said to be working alongside a Chinese cyber mafia, indicating a transnational dimension to this issue that points to a growing concern about cyber slavery and human trafficking. The extent of the network underscores the need for coordinated international efforts to combat such criminal enterprises.

Authorities are now calling for greater awareness among potential job seekers about the dangers of such scams, which lure individuals with false promises. This case not only highlights the risks faced by unemployed youth but also raises questions about regulatory frameworks needed to protect citizens from international gambling and exploitation schemes.
