A 71-year-old man suspected of arson murder in Vantaa is set to appear in court, facing charges related to multiple homicides and attempted murders.

In Vantaa, a 71-year-old man is scheduled to appear in court on Friday morning as he faces serious charges, including five counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and extensive property damage linked to a devastating arson. The police have indicated that they possess credible evidence suggesting the man is responsible for setting his own apartment on fire in the Pähkinänrinne area early on Tuesday morning. The fire was severe enough to produce significant smoke, leading to fatal consequences for the victims who were trapped in the building.

Tragically, the arson resulted in the deaths of the man’s elderly parents and three of their young children, aged 3, 6, and 8, who succumbed to inhaling toxic gases while trying to escape through the stairwell.
