Anger erupts in Jaunpur over blackening of Ambedkar's statue, DM rushes to wash the statue

The incident elicited a strong response from various Dalit organizations and the Bhim Army, which gathered in large numbers to protest against what they viewed as an attack on their identity and values.
Upon hearing about the incident, protesters quickly converged at Ambedkar Chowk, demanding accountability from the government and an immediate response from local officials. The protests quickly escalated, leading the district administration to reinforce police presence in the area to maintain order. In a bid to restore peace and demonstrate his government’s commitment to preserving the dignity of the community, District Magistrate Dinesh Chandra Singh arrived at the scene. Showcasing sensitivity and leadership, he took it upon himself to clean the statue using bottled mineral water while leading the crowd in chants of 'Jai Bhim.' This act was not only a direct response to the defacement but also a significant gesture aimed at reconciling community sentiments and asserting the authority's respect for Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to Indian society and the Dalit community in particular.
