In Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, a funeral procession turned into chaos when honeybees attacked mourners, forcing them to flee and leave the body behind. The incident occurred in the village of Ahimakhera, where the family was preparing for the cremation of 65-year-old Sundar Lal. As about 50 to 60 villagers carried the body to a field outside the village for the last rites, they unexpectedly came under attack from a nearby beehive. The swarm of bees caused panic among the attendees, leading to a stampede as people scrambled for safety.

Witnesses reported that the procession was meant to honor Sundar Lal after his death that morning. Relatives and villagers had gathered for the final ceremonies when the bees, disturbed by the presence of so many humans, swarmed towards the group. In the ensuing chaos, many attendees were stung, resulting in injuries that required hospitalization for around two dozen individuals. The beehive, located on a tree in an orchard near the field, caught everyone off guard and highlighted the potential dangers of outdoor gatherings.
