Death of Umpire in Bloody Attack by Bees, Swarm Continued to Sting on Stretcher!

A 65-year-old umpire tragically died after being attacked by a swarm of bees during a cricket match in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, leaving several players injured.

During a cricket match in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh, a swarm of bees suddenly attacked the match attendees, resulting in the death of 65-year-old umpire Manik Gupta and injuries to multiple players. The incident occurred at Sapru Ground in the Shuklaganj area on Wednesday evening. A senior official from the Kanpur Cricket Association confirmed the unfortunate event, which caused panic among the players and audience alike, forcing many to flee the scene to escape the aggression of the bees.

Eyewitnesses reported that umpire Manik Gupta sustained severe injuries due to the bee attack and lost consciousness on the field. He was initially taken to a private hospital in Shuklaganj for medical attention but was later referred to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur due to his deteriorating condition. Unfortunately, doctors at the Kanpur hospital declared him dead upon arrival. In addition to Gupta, another umpire and approximately 15 to 20 players were also stung by the bees during the chaotic incident, leading to widespread alarm and disarray.

The unexpected nature of the attack raises significant concerns regarding safety measures during outdoor events, highlighting the need for emergency preparedness in cricket and other sports. Local authorities have been informed of the incident, and investigations might be necessary to prevent such dangerous occurrences in the future, ensuring the safety of all participants and spectators in similar events.
