Thyago da Silva Severino, a 34-year-old man, tragically passed away following a colonoscopy at a private clinic in Cerejeiras, Rondônia. The procedure was part of his regular medical follow-ups for nephrotic syndrome, a condition that required frequent medical attention and led to complications from immunosuppressive treatments, including the development of Kaposi's sarcoma. Despite his complex medical history, his family asserted that his overall health was stable and managed appropriately under medical supervision.

During the colonoscopy, a perforation occurred in Severino's intestine, which the attending physician noted as a potential risk due to the compromised state of the organ. The doctor, who had been treating Severino for approximately eight years, halted the procedure upon discovering the issue and indicated that there might be significant damage. Following the incident, Severino was promptly transported to Hospital São Lucas for emergency medical intervention, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries.
