More human remains found at Izaguirre Ranch: 'There was no protection', search groups accuse

Collectives searching for missing persons in Mexico have reported discovering additional human remains near the notorious Izaguirre Ranch, reinforcing concerns about the site's history as a training ground for organized crime.

A year after the initial discovery at Izaguirre Ranch in Teuchitlán, Jalisco, the search collective Guerreros Buscadores has raised concerns over insufficient security and continues to find human remains and clothing around the site. This location, identified as a former training ground for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), has been under scrutiny following the revelation of its use as a ‘death camp’ for organized crime activities.

The collective first reported the presence of numerous items related to victims, including personal belongings and clothing, in March of the previous year. After their discoveries, the government acknowledged the site's role in cartel activities and had secured the area months earlier. However, Guerreros Buscadores expressed frustration over the lack of protective measures observed during their recent investigations, highlighting vulnerabilities in the ongoing search for missing persons in the area.

Despite repeated efforts, the lack of security at the Izaguirre Ranch has raised a red flag among search groups advocating for accountability and better support from the authorities. As they continue to excavate and highlight further evidence of violence linked to the cartel, the collective calls attention to a larger issue of impunity and the need for improved investigative processes to address the plight of families seeking closure regarding their missing loved ones.
