Ministerial authorities in Mexico have reported the exhumation of seven bodies from a clandestine grave found in the municipality of Jáltipan in southern Veracruz. This burial site was discovered on February 5 in the community of Cocuital, an area known for high levels of criminal activity. The discovery was made possible after a businessman from Cosoleacaque escaped from captivity, revealing the existence of the grave before he sadly passed away in a hospital a few hours later.

The clandestine grave, uncovered between the localities of Emiliano Zapata and Cocuital, has drawn attention from law enforcement due to its association with a criminal group operating in the region. Following the confirmation of three bodies on the initial day of discovery, forensic experts returned three days later to find four more sets of remains. The cemetery's location raises concerns about ongoing violence and criminal operations in Veracruz, a state that has been significantly affected by organized crime in recent years.

In response to the situation, police presence has been heightened in the area to secure the site and facilitate further investigations.
